The Transformation of Asian Economies

Drs. Maysami, Drake, and Seeman proudly announce the MOOC “The Transformation of Asian Economies,” a collaborative effort between East Carolina University and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. This 7 week course will focus on one key question:
What factors contribute to the transformation of developing Asian nations into developed economies?

This course will:

• Explore the historic transformation of various societies from undeveloped (and sometimes tribal) civilizations into economically advanced nations

• Review the economic transformation of Singapore and Malaysia and distinguish different paths each country has taken since their independence

• Address the current political and economic landscape of two emerging economies – China and India

The course was developed by a grant from the UNC General Administration and supported by technology partner SAS.

Dr. Ramin Maysami is a Professor of Economics and Dean of the School of Business at UNCP.

Dr. John Drake is an Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems in the College of Business at ECU.

Dr. Elaine Seeman is an Associate Professor of Management Information Systems in the College of Business at ECU.
